Verbs in the Runes of Sweden

This site contains texts of Swedish runes that contain verbs. The verbs are marked as links and clicking the link conjugates the verb.

Runes (futhark) were used in Sweden from around 400 AD until late middle ages. There are still plenty of runic inscriptions written in Proto-Norse, Runic Swedish, or Old Swedish language..

  • The inscriptions written in elder futhark (2nd to 8th c.) were generally written in Proto-Norse.
  • The inscriptions written in younger futhark (9th to 11th c.) were written in Runic Swedish.
  • Medieval runes (12th to 15th c.) date to a period when Old Swedish language was used.

Note! On this site Sweden means today's Sweden.
